Thoughts to Live By

Estate planning is important.  Sure, it may be a key part of your plan to minimize estate taxes or to make sure that nephew Billy gets your baseball card collection.  But it may be much more important to express your values:  to support nephew Billy’s hard-working entrepreneurial spirit, to help a local hospital provide better care for the needy, or simply to make sure your kids will never have to fight over your wishes.

Estate planning is about making life better.  Talking to my clients has given me plenty of opportunity to hear about people’s hopes and plans for the future.

This recent article from The Guardian examines the top five regrets that people express.  We can consider these regrets – these negatives – and turn them into positives.  What can we focus on in our own lives to make sure we have a full and happy existence?
