Estate Planning

Brooks Estate Law, Probate, Estate Planning, Trust Administration

There are a variety of ways you can protect your family, yourself, and your assets.  I will meet with you to discuss your unique situation and what estate planning methods make the most sense for you.

Your estate plan can be simple or complex, but I will make sure it accomplishes your wishes.

Estate Planning

  • Brooks Estate Law, Probate, Estate PlanningPlanning for Children
In your estate plan, you can nominate temporary caretakers and permanent guardians for your children.  I will prepare documents that will speak for you if you cannot speak for yourself, to ensure that your children are cared for as you wish.
  • Planning for Assets
Your estate plan controls the disposition of your assets.  I offer as many different ways to distribute your assets as you can imagine.  You decide what to do, and I’ll make it happen.  Options range from “just leave it all to the kids” to asset protection trusts that prevent children’s creditors or ex-spouses from reaching the inheritance.  Your estate plan will also ensure your wishes are carried out if you are incapacitated and unable to make your own financial decisions.  Additionally, I can help you “disinherit Uncle Sam” by minimizing or eliminating your estate tax liability.
  • Planning for Health Care
I will assemble a complete set of health care documents that will make your health care wishes clear and legally enforceable.  I offer great variety in planning options. We will have conversations about difficult decisions now, when you can take your time, become familiar with your options, and make decisions in a stress-free manner.  By showing that you made considered choices, you ensure that your family comes together in a time of crisis, rather than fighting over what they think you would want.
